I struggled the most with the English section of the ACT, and after I got help from More Than Scores And Tests, that score went up 10 points! This raised my composite score. I got a 26 the first time I took the ACT and never expected to end up with a 33.
One study skill that More Than Scores And Tests taught me is better reading comprehension. It helped me with the ACT and a lot of my classes.
I also got help on my Common App Essay. I didn’t know where to start, but my writing coach at More Than Scores And Tests helped me brainstorm and bring together all my ideas into an essay I was really happy to submit to colleges.

I was very anxious at the beginning of junior year, but the Essential Study Skills coaching at More Than SAT helped me a lot. I learned to get ahead of the teacher’s calendar and study and take notes on material before it’s taught in class. I do this on the weekend; so then I just review my notes during the week. I start my week feeling so in control. I’m so much more prepared and confident in my schoolwork, which has become a lot easier to manage.
In the beginning of junior year, I was very stressed about the college process. I was confused about what I wanted and didn’t have a clear direction of where to go. But toward the end of junior year, my college consultant at More Than Scores And Tests helped me a lot with this. We started by compiling all of what I liked in school and what interested me. I looked at ideal characteristics in colleges—not just the name. Soon, it became clear which colleges would be best for me. Also, I gained a general sense of what I wanted to do. My parents and More Than SAT helped me evolve that into something more practical, and now I know more specifically what I want. Being able to define that, go after it, and achieve it—getting into my first choice college to pursue the career I want—was a big deal for me.
There was a long time between my SAT prep with More Than Scores And Tests and when I took the actual test. But everything I got from my academic coach stuck with me. I was very well prepared. I felt confident, and that helped me perform better. I ended up getting my highest score in Reading, which was always my worst subject. More Than SAT taught me strategies that helped me not only with the exam but also in AP English classes.

More Than Scores And Tests really reduced the stress of looking for a college and the process of applying. There’s so much involved these days. Working with them, we knew we weren’t missing anything and were taking all the right steps. There was no rush at the end of the process for my daughter.
I really think the ACT training at More Than SAT is helpful for school in general. My son got extra help in all school subjects, especially English and Math. And he’s a bad test-taker but learned a lot of strategies from More Than SAT that he can take into his classes.

More Than Scores And Tests got my sons to be very organized in how they needed to plan for their college careers. In the ACT prep, my kids better understood their strengths and weaknesses. They would’ve really struggled without help on the written part of the applications. Even though I’m college educated, I couldn’t have helped much with all this. What colleges want today is so different. To have someone honed on prepping them for college admission was a game changer.

After getting help from More Than SAT, my ACT scores went up significantly in Science and Reading, and I was happy with the increase in my composite. I did get test-taking tips, but the main focus was actually learning skills—not just for the test but skills that I can use in my English and Math classes.

I’m a slow starter and tend to procrastinate, but my college consultant from More Than SAT intervened.
For the essay part of my college applications, I was lost and would’ve been really lost if I hadn’t had essay coaching. More Than SAT helped me to pull off an essay that really showed my character and why I am the way I am and why I’ve done what I’ve done (my classes and activities). It explains a lot about me more than anything else on my resume, which I thought was lacking and didn’t show as much as other people could show. It wrapped up the resume well, and I really believe the essays are what made me stand out more than the other parts of my application.

More Than SAT was an invaluable guide through the college application process. The consultants advised me on recommended schools based on what I wanted and what I needed. I especially appreciated their help with the multiple essays I had to write. It truly made a world of difference, and I can say that my school is the perfect fit for me!
Joe, student at Eckerd College, graduate of Barrington H.S.
More Than SAT helped me discover my potential in high school and advised me in finding a college that was just the right size and fit for me. I especially profited from their help with study habits, organizational skills, and time management. Freshman year was a cakewalk for me, and the entire college experience has truly been less stressful because I’ve been able to utilize what I learned from More Than SAT.

My college had just the right programs, a wonderful sense of community, and did a great job of preparing me for my career, but I hadn’t even considered applying there until my More Than SAT consultant suggested it. I’m so grateful for the guidance I received and the help with applying for scholarships. My advice to high schoolers is: Do your research and find out what working in a particular field really entails. Be ready to consider colleges or programs you’ve never heard of. Bottom line: The time we worked with More Than SAT was money well-spent.

I knew my son’s grades and scores would not get him into a prestigious engineering school, yet I was still disappointed about him ending up at a small college we’d never heard of. But I want you to know that he has now qualified for WashU’s Dual Engineering Program with a scholarship and will be starting his two years there this fall in their BioMed Engineering division.
You provided him with this option that neither of us knew existed. Your guidance opened a door for him, and I want to thank you for all that you did.

I used More Than SAT for ACT/SAT2 test prep and college consulting. The results were stunning! More than SAT approaches the process differently than other companies.
In terms of test prep, my ACT score increased 7 points. More than SAT actually teaches you how to study effectively by yourself rather than giving you small tips and tricks that might increase your score a point or two. The approach allowed me get better and better at the test on my own time instead of just during the times I met with the academic coach. I compare their technique to teaching a man to fish in contrast to giving a man a fish for a day.
Their approach to the college consulting and essay assistance is the same: they show you how to construct a great essay from rough draft to finished product instead of doing it for you, like some companies try to do. This results in a far more authentic essay.
I can honestly say that my admission to Stanford University was a direct result of the support I received from More than SAT.
Gabe, student at Stanford Univ., graduate of Glenbrook North H.S.
I really want to thank More Than SAT for all the ways they helped me prepare for my standardized tests and college essays. Once I got to college, I realized how well they also equipped me for what to expect from college. I feel like I am way ahead of my friends in going through the learning curve as a freshman in college.
Amy, student at Northwestern Univ., graduate of Lake Forest Academy
Thank you for all you’ve done to support my son through this exciting process. His confidence and competence blossomed with your cheerleading, guidance, and counsel!

More Than SAT relates well to a broad spectrum of students and caters their methods to their specific needs. We also like the fact that you are not trying to push services that we don’t need.

In spite of my initial hesitance, More Than SAT has proven to be a godsend. Thanks to their assistance, my school will cover all of my cost of attendance for the upcoming school year. My brother, too, has received a significant amount of financial aid from his school of choice. In the middle of a very difficult year, More Than SAT has proven to be a beacon of comfort and security for our family.
Jenny, student at Cornell Univ., graduate of New Trier H.S.
I could not have been happier with the results from using More Than SAT in preparation for the ACT. While my older children had used other prep courses for the ACT with satisfactory results, I decided to make a change for my youngest child. More Than SAT had a more unique approach to studying for the ACT. More Than SAT’s academic coach was able to tailor a study program specific to my son’s strengths and weaknesses. What’s more, the consultant’s suggestions as to how to manage the test, while taking it, were very beneficial. The result: a 6-point increase. Thank you, More Than SAT!

More Than SAT was extremely helpful in the college decision-making process. I was one of the first people in my family to go to college in the U.S., so having them help me in the step-by-step process of applying/preparing for college was great. I believe that the guidance I had received during each step of the way was an excellent learning experience, and I would recommend More Than SAT to any student who is going through the process of preparing for college.
Kary, student at Illinois State Univ., graduate of Conant H.S.
More Than SAT has been so helpful. As a parent, I feel like I have learned so much about the steps we need to take to prepare my daughter for college. They are so knowledgeable, and their expertise gives us confidence as we make each decision along the high school path on our way to college. I highly recommend them to anyone who has students planning for college.
Jade, parent of Glenbrook South H.S. student
I enjoyed the personalized approach of planning for college that the More Than SAT consultants had to offer. Everybody has different preferences and experiences that play a role in choosing the college that they want to attend, and I appreciated how the consultants offered personalized guidance through every step of the way.
