Learn how to rock that test!

PSAT 8/9, ACT,

SAT/PSAT/NMSQ

Test Prep Courses

Program Description

PSAT 8/9

PSAT 8/9 is an “easier version” of the SAT and PSAT and starting in 2016, many public schools in Illinois have adopted it as a placement test for high school. Test results will determine into which track students are placed in high school (e.g., “regular” or “advanced” classes).

In this course, we will focus on the topics that are specific to the PSAT 8/9 courses, reviewing the materials students should have learned so far in school. This course will not only help the students brush up on content for the PSAT 8/9 test, it will also be a good opportunity to find out their academic strengths and gaps before they enter high school.

Time/Location/Tuition

Dates: June 19 – July 27 (6 weeks)

Time: M/W, 3:30-5:30pm or T/TH, 3:30-5:30pm

Location: Wheeling

Tuition: Regular – $1100/Early Bird – $1050 (register before 4/30/2017)

Algebra2 BootCamp

SAT and ACT math includes some “advanced topics” from Algebra 2 and Trigonometry. However, there are only a handful of these topics that appear on the tests, making up less than 10% of the questions. Instead of waiting another year to prepare for standardized tests, it would be wiser for students to focus on the 90% of the materials they have already learned.

This course will give a good foundation for the Algebra 2 and Trigonometry topics that appear on the SAT and ACT, so the students can be fully prepared for either exam.

Time/Location/Tuition

Dates: Mon. June 12 – Fri. June 17 (1 week)

Time: 2:00 – 4:00 pm every day for 5 days

Location: Glenview Classroom

Tuition: Regular – $450/If taken with SAT or ACT course – $400

SAT/PSAT/NMSQ

In this SAT (and PSAT/NMSQT) course, we will focus on building good test-taking habits and approaches, as well as building a solid academic foundation. We will comprehensively cover all subjects of the SAT: Reading, Writing, and Math. In this course, we will use real SAT tests for practice and our proprietary curriculum and methodologies.

Our SAT students improved more than 180 points on average, while 100% of our PSAT students were in the top 99th percentile, with half of them qualifying for the National Merit Scholarships. Work hard and work smart. This course will not only help students prepare for a standardized test but will also help them discover their academic strengths and gaps for college readiness.

For PSAT students preparing for National Merit Scholarships, they will need to take a follow-up SAT Test upon qualification, so we will cover all topics on the SAT, not just topics on the PSAT.

SAT OR ACT ESSAY

Some colleges and universities, especially the more competitive ones seeking to get a holistic understanding of their applicants, may require the SAT or ACT Essays as part of their admissions decision. In addition, it is generally a good idea to prepare for the Essay Tests along with a SAT or ACT course to help reinforce the grammar and English topics.

In the SAT Essay course, students will learn how to think analytically through the prompt passage given, organize one’s thoughts and information effectively, and write clearly and effectively to get the best results.

In the ACT Essay course, students will learn how to think critically through the different viewpoints given in the prompt, formulate strengths and weaknesses of each argument, organize one’s own thoughts and viewpoints pointedly, and write clearly and effectively to get the best results.
